Lavender Vanilla Oat Milk Latte: A Springtime Treat

There’s a reason lavender lattes have made their way onto spring café menus everywhere. The soothing floral notes of lavender blend beautifully with creamy oat milk and the subtle sweetness of vanilla to create a drink that’s both comforting and refreshingly light. This Lavender Vanilla Oat Milk Latte is the kind of beverage that feels like a moment of calm in a cup—perfect for a slow morning or an afternoon pick-me-up.

But what makes or breaks a latte, no matter how beautifully flavored, is the espresso. And not all coffee beans are created equal when it comes to botanical drinks.

Why the Right Espresso Matters for a Floral Latte

When you're working with delicate ingredients like lavender and vanilla, balance is everything. The espresso needs to be strong enough to give the drink structure and depth, but smooth and subtle enough not to overpower the floral and creamy elements. It’s a bit like pairing wine with food—some coffees just harmonize better with specific flavors.

For this recipe, we brewed with the Cowboy Blend from Bee-Tastic: Beans & Teas™, and it turned out to be the perfect match.

Featured Espresso: Bee-Tastic™ Cowboy Blend

The Cowboy Blend is a medium-dark roast crafted to deliver bold flavor with smooth edges. Here’s why it works especially well in a lavender latte:

  • Flavor Notes: This blend offers hints of vanilla, cocoa, and caramel—natural complements to lavender and oat milk.

  • Mouthfeel: It's low in acidity but rich in body, which means it adds creaminess without overwhelming the more subtle ingredients.

  • Plant-Milk Friendly: Designed with oat, almond, and soy milk in mind, it holds up beautifully in dairy-free drinks.

If you're experimenting with flavored lattes at home, this espresso gives you café-level results in your own kitchen. You can learn more about the Cowboy Blend here.

Lavender Vanilla Oat Milk Latte Recipe

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Yield: 1 latte

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots espresso (we recommend Bee-Tastic™ Cowboy Blend)

  • ¾ cup oat milk (barista blend preferred)

  • 1 tbsp lavender syrup

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional topping: lavender cold foam or a sprinkle of dried lavender

Instructions:

  1. Brew your espresso. Use your preferred method to pull two shots of espresso. If you don't have an espresso machine, a strong brew using an AeroPress or moka pot works too.

  2. Heat and froth oat milk. Warm your oat milk and froth it using a handheld frother or steam wand.

  3. Add the flavor. Stir the lavender syrup and vanilla extract into the hot espresso.

  4. Combine. Slowly pour the frothed oat milk over the flavored espresso.

  5. Top it off (optional). For an extra floral touch, top your latte with cold foam infused with a splash of lavender syrup and garnish with edible dried lavender.

DIY Lavender Syrup

Makes about ½ cup—enough for 6–8 lattes

  • ½ cup water

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp dried culinary lavender

  1. Combine water and sugar in a small pot; bring to a gentle boil.

  2. Add lavender, reduce heat, and simmer 3–5 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat; steep 10 minutes.

  4. Strain into a jar. Let cool, then refrigerate (up to 2 weeks).

Can You Make It Iced?

Absolutely. Just pour your espresso and syrups over ice, add cold oat milk, and skip the steaming step. You can still froth a little cold foam for that café-style finish.

Final Sip: Why This Latte Works

This drink is a beautiful representation of what spring tastes like—comforting, fresh, and a little whimsical. And when paired with the right coffee, it becomes more than just a seasonal trend. It becomes a staple.
